Kanonkop Pinotage 2016 is a mature back-vintage release of South Africa’s benchmark Pinotage, from the Krige family’s Simonsberg-Stellenbosch estate. Made from old bush vines and matured in French oak, it now has ten years in bottle: the plum and dark cherry fruit has gained savoury, earthy complexity, framed by fine-grained tannins and a long finish.

Overview
100% Pinotage wine. Deep intense plum colour with a purple hue. A bold intensity of black plum, red and blackberries and a concentration of vanilla and aromatic sweet spice. The wine was matured for 18 months in French barrels. This vintage offers a good complexity with layered flavours that is balanced and accessible, but will continue to develop and integrate for years to come.
