Beyerskloof Pinotage Reserve 2024

£19.95 incl. VAT

12 in stock

Deep, opaque ruby-purple. Lively dark fruit — black plum, blackberry, mulberry — with delicate cedar and vanilla notes from barrel ageing, a savoury crushed-herb lift and a wisp of dark chocolate. Full-bodied with excellent balance, a generous core of dark berry fruit, fine but firm tannins and a long, juicy finish. Drink now with BBQ ribs, grilled lamb or beef burgers, or cellar up to 10 years.

2024 Vintage — Stellenbosch, South Africa

Beyerskloof is the Cape’s flagship Pinotage producer — founded by Beyers Truter (the man who put Pinotage on the international map) on the granite-and-clay slopes north of Stellenbosch. The estate makes Pinotage at almost every tier in the South African market, but the Reserve is the serious one: old-bush-vine fruit, lower yields, barrel ageing, designed to age.

100% Pinotage from older bush-vine parcels at higher elevation, hand-harvested, fermented in open-top tanks with daily pump-overs, then aged for around 14 months in French oak (a portion new) to build structure and integrate the variety’s signature sweet-fruit character. The estate’s house style favours restraint and freshness — a Pinotage built for the table, not for showing off.
