Beeslaar Pinotage 2023

£44.95 incl. VAT

6 in stock

Deep opaque ruby with a lifted nose of dark plum, blackberry, cocoa, sweet spice and a whisper of cured meat. The palate is layered and structured — concentrated dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, integrated French oak and a long, savoury, mineral finish. A benchmark modern Pinotage from one of the Cape’s most respected winemakers.

2023 Vintage — Stellenbosch, South Africa

Beeslaar Pinotage is Abrie Beeslaar’s own personal label — a cult single-varietal made by the long-time Kanonkop winemaker in his own name, sourced from selected old-vine, bush-vine Pinotage sites across Stellenbosch. Beeslaar is a Cape Winemaker of the Year and one of the most decorated Pinotage specialists in the world; this is his most focused expression of the grape.

Fruit is hand-harvested from mature, dryland-farmed bushvine parcels, then vinified traditionally in open-top fermenters with hand punchdowns. The 2023 was aged for around 18 months in French oak barriques — a portion new — to build layer and structure without covering the wine’s dark-fruited signature. Small batches, allocation-only in most markets.
