£28.95 incl. VAT

6 in stock

Deep, dark ruby. Layered nose of blackcurrant, cassis, dark plum, graphite, cedar, cured tobacco and a whisper of sweet spice. Full-bodied and finely structured — firm but polished tannins, vibrant Left Bank acidity, savoury oak in support, and a long, mineral, gravel-tinged finish. A gorgeous drinking window opening now.

2016 Vintage — Saint-Estèphe AOC, Médoc, Bordeaux, France

Château Les Ormes de Pez is a classified Cru Bourgeois estate belonging to the Cazes family (of Lynch-Bages fame), located just west of the village of Saint-Estèphe. The estate takes its name from the magnificent grove of elm trees on the property. 2016 was a benchmark Left Bank vintage — cool, extended growing season followed by a warm dry September — producing wines of poise, purity and long-term structure.

Classic Left Bank blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Hand-harvested, fermented in a mix of stainless steel and oak, then aged for around 14 months in French oak (approximately 40% new).
