Pencarrow is Palliser Estate’s approachable second-tier Martinborough Pinot Noir — the wines destined for early drinking pleasure while the flagship Palliser Estate Pinot Noir sits in the cellar. Sourced from the estate’s alluvial gravel vineyards on the Martinborough terrace, the wine is a serious taste of Wairarapa cool-climate Pinot at a friendly price.
100% Pinot Noir, hand-harvested. Fermented as a mix of whole-berry and whole-bunch batches in open-top fermenters with gentle plunging, then matured for around 10 months in French oak (a portion new) before bottling.
