Intensely aromatic with a darker fruit spectrum and complex savoury spice interwoven seamlessly with firm, structural tannin. Pure, precise and deeply expressive of its site — dark cherry and plum layered with spice, fennel seed and a whisper of anise. The palate is silken but structured, with fine tannins and cool-climate acidity holding everything in poise.

Tolpuddle Vineyard, owned by Shaw + Smith, sits in the cool Coal River Valley about twenty minutes from Hobart in Tasmania’s south-east. The site has built a reputation as one of the defining names in Tasmanian wine, with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir performing splendidly at the cool extremes of Australian viticulture.
100% Pinot Noir, hand-picked. Fermented as a combination of whole berries and whole bunches in open wooden and stainless fermenters with gentle plunging, then aged for around 10 months in French oak (approximately one third new).
