Franz Haas Moscato Rosa 2024

£38.95 incl. VAT

9 in stock

Bright cherry-pink to translucent rose. The nose offers explosive aromas of fresh rose petal, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis and pomegranate, with notes of sweet citrus rind, ginger, white pepper and a faint exotic spice. The palate is silky and gently sweet, with vivid red-fruit intensity, balancing acidity that keeps the finish fresh and clean rather than cloying. Drink now to 2028. Serve well chilled.

2024 Vintage — Alto Adige DOC, Italy

Franz Haas is one of Alto Adige’s most celebrated growers, working a patchwork of high-altitude vineyards in the Adige valley south of Bolzano. The estate’s Moscato Rosa is sourced from the Schweizer vineyard — the same site that produces their flagship Pinot Nero — and is widely regarded as the reference point for this rare, perfumed Italian variety.

100% Moscato Rosa (Rosenmuskateller). Grapes are hand-harvested in mid-October when fully ripe, then fermentation is arrested by chilling to preserve a portion of the natural grape sugars — producing a low-alcohol (around 11.5% ABV), gently sweet wine with intense aromatic lift. Vinified entirely in stainless steel to keep the aromatics pure. The wine sits on the line between a sweet rosé and a true dessert wine — concentrated enough to partner classic pairings (foie gras, blue cheese, fresh berry desserts) yet lifted and lightly sweet enough to enjoy as an aperitif.
