2016 Vintage — Ribera del Duero DO, Castilla y León
Bodegas Nabal is based in Gumiel de Izán, in the heart of Ribera del Duero, with old-vine Tempranillo (locally Tinto Fino) growing on the high, stony plateau north of the Duero river. The ‘Selección de la Familia’ Reserva is the bodega’s family-selection bottling — drawn from their oldest parcels and given extended ageing reserved for top vintages.
100% Tempranillo. Hand-harvested from selected old-vine parcels on calcareous-clay soils at altitudes of 800–900m. The wine is aged for more than 20 months in high-quality French oak barrels from the Allier and Vosges forests before further bottle ageing prior to release. 2016 was an outstanding, balanced vintage in Ribera del Duero — warm enough to deliver ripeness, with cool nights preserving freshness and aromatic detail. With nearly a decade in bottle, the wine is fully resolved and drinking in its prime.
