Deep, near-opaque ruby. The nose offers black cherry preserve, fig, dark chocolate and sweet spice with notes of cedar and tobacco from oak. Full-bodied and powerful on the palate with ripe black fruit, soft tannins and a long, warm finish. Drink now through 2030.
2020 Vintage — Primitivo di Manduria DOP, Puglia
Anniversario 62 is San Marzano’s flagship Riserva, named in honour of the year the cooperative was founded — 1962. Sourced from old, low-yielding bush-trained Primitivo vines (alberello pugliese) on red, iron-rich soils around Sava in the Manduria appellation, the wine showcases the deep concentration and ripe character that the southern Salento peninsula is known for.
100% Primitivo, harvested at full ripeness in early September. Vinified in stainless steel followed by extended ageing in French and American oak barriques (around 12 months) before bottle ageing prior to release. The Riserva designation requires longer ageing than the standard Manduria DOP, producing a wine of greater structure, depth and longevity.
