Klein Constantia Anwilka 2018

£29.95 incl. VAT

5 in stock

Deep, near-opaque ruby. The nose offers concentrated blackcurrant, dark cherry and blackberry with notes of cedar, graphite, sweet spice, violet and a savoury hint of garrigue and toasted oak. Full-bodied and structured on the palate, with ripe, fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, savoury, mineral finish. Drink 2026–2034.

2018 Vintage — Stellenbosch, South Africa

Anwilka is the Stellenbosch-based partnership between Klein Constantia and two of Bordeaux’s most respected names — Bruno Prats (formerly of Château Cos d’Estournel) and Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus). The estate sits on warm, free-draining soils on the Helderberg side of Stellenbosch, where the maritime cooling of False Bay tempers ripeness and lets the Cabernet-led blend retain freshness.

The 2018 vintage is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Syrah and 5% Petit Verdot, hand-harvested with parcel-by-parcel selection and aged 19 months in French oak. The Bordelaise winemaking influence shows in the wine’s restraint — it’s structured and savoury rather than overtly opulent, with a fine-grained tannin profile built for cellaring.
