Colombard is one of the Cape’s most-planted white grapes and one of its least respected, historically headed for distillation. Sakkie Mouton is among a small group of growers treating old-vine Colombard as a serious wine grape.
From West Coast vineyards under strong maritime influence, this is dry, bright and saline, with citrus and green-orchard fruit, a fine thread of acidity and a chalky, savoury finish. Listed by Woodwinters as Vloedvlak Colombar.
