Deep garnet. Layered aromatics of blackcurrant, black cherry and Morello over graphite, cedar, tobacco leaf and a subtle fynbos lift. Medium- to full-bodied, tightly framed and structured, with fine chalky tannins, cool acidity and a long, mineral, savoury finish. Serious cellar-worthy Stellenbosch red — drinks with rib-eye, roast lamb, aged hard cheeses, mushroom-forward dishes, or laid down for the next 10-15 years.

Raats Family Wines, founded by Bruwer Raats in Polkadraai on the Stellenbosch–False Bay corridor, is one of the Cape’s most respected boutique estates — best known for benchmark Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc from decomposed granite soils cooled by the Atlantic. Under Bruwer’s meticulous, restrained hand the wines are lean-lined, textural and firmly in the Old-World camp.
‘MR Vesperi’ is Raats’ companion wine to the acclaimed ‘MR de Compostella Mvemve’ Bordeaux blend — a joint project with Mzokhona ‘Mzo’ Mvemve. Vesperi is a Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend from single-vineyard parcels on Polkadraai’s coolest, granite-rich sites, aged in French oak (a portion new) and built to age.
