Nabal Reserva Selección de la Familia 2020

£34.95 incl. VAT

6 in stock

Deep cherry-red with a purple rim. The nose offers ripe black fruit, plum and blackberry, leather and tobacco with notes of vanilla, sweet spice and a toasty, coffee-like edge from extended French oak. Full-bodied, complex and powerful on the palate, with fine-grained tannins, balanced acidity and a long, persistent finish. Drink now to 2035.

2020 Vintage — Ribera del Duero DO, Castilla y León

Bodegas Nabal is based in Gumiel de Izán, in the heart of Ribera del Duero, with old-vine Tempranillo (locally Tinto Fino) growing on the high, stony plateau north of the Duero river. The ‘Selección de la Familia’ Reserva is the bodega’s family-selection bottling — drawn from their oldest parcels and given extended ageing reserved for top vintages.

100% Tempranillo. Hand-harvested from selected old-vine parcels on calcareous-clay soils at altitudes of 800–900m. The wine is aged for more than 20 months in high-quality French oak barrels from the Allier and Vosges forests before further bottle ageing prior to release. 2020 was a warm, generous year in Ribera del Duero — a wet spring built good reserves in the vines, followed by a hot, dry summer that delivered ripe, concentrated fruit, with cool nights on the plateau preserving freshness and aromatic lift. Still youthful, with the depth and structure to develop over the next decade.
