A single-vineyard Pinot Nero from Franz Haas, one of Alto Adige’s most celebrated estates. The Schweizer vineyard yields a wine of remarkable finesse — silky tannins, vivid red fruit and a cool Alpine transparency that sets it apart.
Franz Haas has long been regarded as one of the finest producers of Pinot Nero in Alto Adige, and the Schweizer is the flagship expression of that conviction. Sourced from the estate’s Schweizer vineyard in the Mazon hills above Egna, the wine is fermented in small open-top fermenters and aged in French oak barriques, producing a Pinot of uncommon depth and elegance.
The 2022 vintage brings a luminous ruby colour and a nose of wild strawberry, dried rose petal and subtle earthy spice. On the palate, the tannins are fine-grained and the acidity bright, carrying flavours of cherry, raspberry and a whisper of vanilla through to a long, mineral finish. Classic Alto Adige Pinot Nero at its most compelling.
