El Enemigo Chardonnay 2023

£24.95 incl. VAT

6 in stock

High-altitude Chardonnay from Gualtallary, Tupungato, aged under flor for Sherry-like complexity. Salted lemon, apple, ripe peach and oak spice, full-bodied yet vibrant with a chalky texture.

El Enemigo is a cult Argentinian winery — a partnership between soil expert Alejandro Vigil (Director of Winemaking at Bodega Catena Zapata) and Adrianna Catena. This high-altitude Chardonnay from Gualtallary in Tupungato is matured in large oak barrels for nine months with a touch of flor, the yeast growth that gives Fino and Manzanilla Sherry its distinct flavour, for extra complexity.

Velvety-textured with real vibrancy and freshness: apple pie, lemon curd, apricot, white peach, dried flowers, vanilla cream, hazelnut, sea salt and a whiff of that Sherry-like yeastiness. Remarkable purity and saline minerality for the price.
