Dog Point Vineyard was established in 2002 by James Healy and Ivan Sutherland, the winemaking and viticulture team behind Cloudy Bay’s rise to fame. Farming their Marlborough estate biodynamically, they produce wines of exceptional concentration and character.
The Chardonnay is fermented in French barriques with wild yeasts and goes through full malolactic fermentation, giving it a richness and weight that sets it apart from most New Zealand examples. The 2023 shows nectarine, white peach and grapefruit on the nose, with a palate of creamy texture, vibrant acidity and a focused, mineral-driven finish. A serious Chardonnay at a very honest price.
