Cadus Tupungato Appellation Malbec 2023

£18.95 incl. VAT

12 in stock

Deep ruby-purple with violet rim. Generous nose of black plum, blackberry, blueberry compote and dark cherry over warm spice, dark chocolate, violet and a wisp of vanilla from the oak. Full-bodied with velvety, fine-grained tannins, a juicy concentrated mid-palate and a long, mineral-edged finish carrying the cool-site Andean freshness. Excellent with grilled steak, slow-roast lamb, empanadas, aged Manchego or a Sunday roast.

2023 Vintage — Tupungato (Uco Valley), Mendoza, Argentina

Cadus is the premium estate label of Bodega Norton — one of Argentina’s most historic wineries — focused on single-region, terroir-specific Malbec from the higher, cooler corners of Mendoza. The Cadus “Appellation” series is built around the country’s most distinctive Malbec sub-regions; this bottling comes exclusively from Tupungato, in the Uco Valley, where vineyards sit between 1,200 and 1,500 metres above sea level.

100% Malbec from selected old-vine parcels on the alluvial gravel-and-sand soils of Tupungato, hand-harvested and gently destemmed, fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts, then aged for around 12 months in French oak barriques (a portion new). The high-altitude diurnal range — hot days, very cold nights — preserves natural acidity through ripening, giving the wine its signature combination of fruit concentration and freshness.
