Winter produced an average amount of rainfall, but not quite enough to avoid fires in the region. The season started late, and frosts caused some concern, which resulted in irrigation early in the season. Cool and humid weather in the spring disrupted flowering and particularly affected the Cabernet Sauvignon yields. Some days above 40 around Christmas sped up ripening. Luckily the vineyard was spared from any fire damage or smoke taint. Cooler temperatures near harvest extended the ripening period. The red wines of 2020 had unusually thick skins which resulted in tiny production quantities but vibrant wines with fine tannins and tight structures.
The fruit was destemmed and sorted prior to fermentation. Following fermentation, the wine was matured for 12 months in 46% new French oak prior to bottling.
