Bodegas Baigorri is one of Rioja Alavesa’s standout modern producers, built into the hillside above Samaniego with a striking gravity-fed cellar. The Reserva is made from old, low-yield Tempranillo vines, selected plot by plot, with long macerations in oak and 18 months’ ageing in fine French barrels followed by further bottle age before release.
Deep and structured, with dark berry fruit, liquorice and fine, polished tannins — a serious, age-worthy Rioja Alavesa Reserva.
90/100 Falstaff.
