Kevin John is Cullen’s flagship Chardonnay, named after Vanya Cullen’s father and grown biodynamically at Wilyabrup in Margaret River. The fruit comes from Wente-clone vines planted on their own roots in 1976, and the wine is aged for six months in French oak (50% new).
Crushed shells and citrus blossom on the nose, then layers of white peach, pear, green apple and lime with lemon peel, flint and a salted-nut savouriness. The palate balances real power with delicacy, finishing long and mineral.
