Marras Lamprecht Shiraz 2022

£21.95 incl. VAT

8 in stock

Bright ruby-purple. Lifted nose of blackberry, dark plum and mulberry over crushed white pepper, dried fynbos, smoked meat and a savoury floral lift. Medium-bodied with bright acidity, fine pebbly tannins and a long, peppery finish. A Swartland Shiraz that drinks more like a cool-climate Rhône — excellent with grilled lamb chops, mushroom risotto, charcuterie or a Cape braai.

2022 Vintage — Swartland W.O., South Africa

Marras is the personal label of young Swartland winemaker Martin Lamprecht — a fresh, dynamic voice in the wave of producers reimagining the region. The wines come from old-vine parcels across the Swartland’s granite, schist and shale soils, with a clear style: lifted aromatics, lower alcohol, more spice and freshness than Swartland’s old guard, made for the table rather than the cellar.

The Marras Lamprecht Shiraz is sourced from cooler-site Shiraz parcels in the Swartland, hand-harvested and gently destemmed, fermented with a portion of whole bunches in open-top vats, then aged in older French oak (zero new wood) to preserve fruit lift and pepper-spice character. Closer to the cool-Rhône / Cape new wave in style than the typical riper Swartland Shiraz.
