2019 Vintage — Margaux AOC, Bordeaux, France
Château Giscours is one of the largest and most consistent estates of Margaux, classified as a 3ème Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 ranking. The property — instantly recognisable from its grand 19th-century château — sits on a single 80-hectare gravel plateau in the southern Margaux commune of Labarde, on the same Garonne-river gravels that produced the great vintages from neighbours Cantenac-Brown, du Tertre and d’Issan.
The 2019 blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot. Hand-harvested with strict parcel and berry selection, fermented in concrete and stainless steel, then aged for around 18 months in French oak barriques (a significant proportion new). 2019 was a celebrated, classic, sun-drenched Bordeaux vintage — ripe, balanced, and built for cellaring. With its sappy Cabernet-led structure, polished Merlot mid-palate, and the characteristic Margaux perfume, this is a serious cellar wine that will reward keeping.
