The 2022 Bolgheri growing season was defined by a long, intense dry spell beginning in late winter and lasting through much of summer, creating considerable stress in the vineyards. Relief finally arrived in mid-August with timely rainfall that helped the vines rebalance and complete ripening. Thanks to these late-season showers, grapes reached good phenolic maturity, particularly the slower-ripening varieties. Harvest began early, from the third week of August into late September, and despite the heat and drought, the wines show balanced alcohol, solid acidity, freshness, and refined structure—ultimately a successful vintage shaped by resilience and well-timed rain.
