//A Fox and Yankee and a Mike walk into a bar; the fox orders a Chardonnay, Yankee Doodles and Mike performs some magic.
This Chardonnay takes no prisoners – it had everyone wide-eyed at our first tasting as the rich butterscotch of the FYM consumed them as they consumed it. The grapes for the FYM (or Fox.Yankee.Mike.) come from a minuscule block next to the vineyard’s private airstrip which grows a clone (CY18) that isn’t found anywhere else in the world. Previously thought extinct, this low-yielding clone of Chardonnay was found thriving on the Môreson farm. The grapes from this 24 year old vine are barrel-fermented, with a full malolactic fermentation and aged on its lees in French oak (50% new) for 11 months with weekly batononage for the first 6 months. This is a Chardonnay that will stand the test of time if you want to lay it down.
