Borsao Tres Picos 2020
James Suckling – 90 points (2019)
Full body Borja. Dark burgundy color. Light blueberry aroma. Blueberry, vanilla, black pepper, dark chocolate and some raspberry on the palate. Very light tannin. Great value.

Borsao Tres Picos is a red wine made by the Borsao winery in Campo de Borja. It was described it as the best value wine in 2014 by Robert Parker.

The Borsao winery began in 1958 as a cooperative of producers from the Campo de Borja. A winery with great experience in the Grenache, the variety which reigns in the Campo de Borja.

Borsao Tres Picos is therefore a varietal Grenache, made with grapes from old vines between 35-60 years old, and planted at an altitude of 600-700 metres. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone, stone soils behind the Moncayo Mountain which regulates hot and cold temperatures. The climate is one of great contrasts. It is very cold in winter with Atlantic influences and the Boreas, a cold wind from the North West. Summers, however, are warm with higher temperatures. There is also a great contrast in temperature between day and night, causing a slow maturation, providing a good acidity and a nice colour to the wine.

To produce this Borsao Tres Picos, the grapes are macerated for 20-25 days before fermentation, which occurs in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of between 25-30 ° C. This wine is aged for five months in new French oak barrels from Bordeaux.

A good representation of a Grenache of Aragon.
