The Lievland Old Vine Chenin Blanc is made from 3 certified heritage vineyards; planted in 1977, 1983 and 1987. This aromatic and intensely fruity wine is a stunning showcase of the versatility of Chenin Blanc.

Vintage
The vineyards looked absolutely fantastic throughout the growing season, with full rich green canopies. Yields were relatively low this year and the quality was overall high.

Vineyards
Thee heritage bush-vine Chenin Blanc vineyards are located in the Agter-Paarl region. ese dry-farmed vineyards sit on a basin of shale – the vineyards on the cooler, South-facing slopes produce grapes with pronounced stone fruit and minty characteristics, while blocks located in warmer pockets produce concentrated fruit with intensity and texture.

Winemaking
Grapes were hand-picked and immediately destemmed, crushed and pressed. After overnight settling, the juice was racked on the gross lees and a small amount of ne lees was added back to give texture to the wine. The juice was then transferred to a combination of neutral oak (28%) and the rest in stainless steel.
