Kanonkop Pinotage 2012

£39.95 incl. VAT

7 in stock

The Kanonkop Pinotage 2012 is a complex wine with hints of red fruit and mocha flavours. Elegant tannin structures with a good length and dry finish.

Kanonkop’s 10 year re-release of the award winning 2012 Kanonkop Pinotage is a very complex wine with hints of red fruit which reflects some Pinot Noir elegance and structure. Back in 2000 winemaker Johann Krige made the bold decision to hold back a number of vintages to show how well Pinotage would age. He has now been releasing limited bottles every 10 years. For comparison we also have the current 2017 (Magnum – very rare), and 2018 vintages available to purchase.

AWARDS / RATINGS
Tim Atkins – 94 points
Wine Spectator – 92 points
Wine Advocate – 91 points
IWSC 2015: Gold Outstanding & Abraham Perold Trophy for Best Pinotage
Platter’s Guide – 4.5*

Awards

You’d expect this wine to be good in a stellar vintage like 2015, and so it is.

 Tim Atkin MW

Overview

100% Pinotage wine. Deep intense plum colour with a purple hue. A bold intensity of black plum, red and blackberries and a concentration of vanilla and aromatic sweet spice. The wine was matured for 18 months in French barrels. This vintage offers a good complexity with layered flavours that is balanced and accessible, but will continue to develop and integrate for years to come.
